Organizational History and Background
Favor International was birthed through prayer in 2003 by Ugandans and founder Carole Ward, a third-generation American missionary, amid a civil war led by Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Favor was established to witness God's transformation of indigenous leaders and people in Northern Africa. Through the miraculous spread of the Gospel, discipleship, and mobilized public prayer movements, the once unconquerable child soldier armies of the LRA self-evacuated, leading to an uneasy peace by 2006. The LRA’s highest general, who converted to Christianity and attended Favor’s Bible school, credited one of Favor’s specific prayer gatherings for ending the war.
Favor International works among unreached and underserved people groups to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, followed by training, discipling, and empowering new believers and their communities. As a Christian organization, Favor International provides spiritual and Biblical guidance, humanitarian relief, and educational and economic development.
We engage indigenous leaders within communities to become pastors and missionaries. Favor is committed to working with children, families, and communities throughout 10 African Nations. Through the power of the Gospel, we mobilize prayer, evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, local community-based problem-solving, and public/private cooperation to bring about transformation in the unreached and underserved communities across Africa. |
